There is a debate going on right now, a debate that we welcome. This applies to PFAS, which is found in clothes and beauty products. PFAS is a collective name for approximately 3000 industrially produced chemicals. These widespread, manmade chemicals have leached into our soil, air, and water. People are most likely exposed to these chemicals by consuming PFAS-contaminated water or food, using products made with PFAS, or breathing air containing PFAS.
Some of the PFAS-chemical are carcinogenic and can cause liver damage. Others have shown in animal experiments to affect reproductive ability and the immune system. Several thousands are not even tested. Nevertheless, they may be found in common products such as makeup, clothing and furniture. We’re talking about PFAS, a group of substances that are extremely hard to digest and that we all have in the blood – even the polar bears far away in the Arctic.
ImseVimse’s textile products are certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class 1 for baby products and free from PFAS substances.
It is not easy to keep track of the products you buy and use. But one advice is to learn more about on what ingredients to avoid when shopping.
